Halloween night is a time for the whole family to partake. It is always hectic for us right before the trick or treating starts. We are rushing to fix dinner, helping the kids locate their missing costume accessories. Next we search through cabinets for a suitable container to hold the goodies soon to be acquired. Did we buy enough candy or too much? Does this sound familiar?
Trust me, as a mom of two amazing kids that are now young adults, the years go by too fast. Take a deep breath and soak it all in. Pull out your cell phone or camera and snap a few pictures to freeze time.
My family has had a mix of store bought and homemade over the years. The handmade costumes certainly encouraged creativity, often more durable and certainly more unique. Sometimes our costume interpretations made it hard for others to grasp our concept. Did people see my daughter as a jelly fish or a shower? When I created my toddler's rainbow fish costume, neighbors thought she was an owl. Oh well, the important part is we had fun creating each and every costume. My son's homemade rhino costume was so simple, comfortable and mighty clever.
